Personal care is the most dynamic sector of SDA market, characterised by an increase of 8,5 % in volume and 6,5 % in value. Part of this positive trend is due to the increase in sales of hair clippers, mainly in volume (+ 16%) and less in value (+ 4,5 %); the average price is decreasing from a 21 € in Aug-Sep 04 to 19 € in Aug-Sep 05. This reduction is mainly caused by the higher importance of the so called “unbranded”. The growth of this product group is due to the good performances of the “main” and “mains + rechargeable” segments, while the rechargeable show a decrease in volume (- 8%) and in price (- 13%). The growth of this market has taken place especially in Buying Groups (+32% in volume) but also in Mass Merchandisers (+12%) and in Chains (+10%).
